“90% choose it even though it is expensive at 4.55 million won” Carnival hybrid pre-contract is a huge hit
Pre-orders for the Kia Carnival facelift ‘The New Carnival’ began on the 8th. According to industry news, as many as 36,000 pre-orders were made on the first day of Carnival. In particular, it is known that more than 90% of contract customers chose the hybrid model.
Carnival Hybrid is a newly added eco-friendly model with the launch of this facelift model. It is the first hybrid model in Carnival history and has received the most attention from consumers even before its launch.
High expectations led to a contract. More than 90% of the total contract volume for the new Carnival is hybrid models. It is known that gasoline and diesel models each account for less than 5%. Recently, the popularity of diesel models has been steadily declining, and in the case of the Carnival gasoline model, the high maintenance cost due to its high displacement of 3.5 liters has been pointed out as a disadvantage.
The price of the Carnival hybrid model is 4.55 million won more expensive than the 3.5-liter gasoline model for 9 seats. The price difference for the 7-seater model is also quite large at 4.5 million won, but considering the gap between the 1,600cc car tax for the hybrid model (about 290,000 won) and the car tax for the 3,500cc gasoline model (about 910,000 won), as well as the difference in fuel efficiency, it is enough. It's an attractive option.
In addition, the hybrid model is equipped with a large number of specialized specifications unique to the hybrid model, such as driving performance using electric motors and the additional application of E-Ride, E-Handling, and E-EHA technologies to improve ride comfort.
The Carnival Hybrid's powertrain is based on a 1.6 gasoline turbo hybrid engine and produces a combined system output of 245 horsepower and a maximum torque of 37.4 kg.m. It is characterized by 10 more horsepower than the Sorento Hybrid, thanks to a more powerful electric motor that produces a maximum output of 54kW.
The certified combined fuel efficiency is 14 km/L as measured by Kia Research Institute. Detailed fuel efficiency for each passenger is expected to be released when certification by the Ministry of Environment is completed.
Meanwhile, it is reported that Kia's new Carnival will begin delivery to customers in the middle of this month, and the hybrid model will begin after mid-December.
